7th Annual Gingerbread Cookie Decorating Extravaganza and Red/Green Day

Friday, December 1st was the 7th annual Gingerbread decorating day at the Elementary campus, and our unofficial kick off of the Christmas season. Thanks to 20 parent volunteers organizing over 450 decorating kits, students were able to spend the morning enjoying the many colours and outfits, listening to music, and of course, decorating their cookies! RCS provides the icing and cookies, and students bring their own decorations. As always, it was a sweet time.

Gifts for the Manger

For the last 17 years, the Elementary Campus has been collecting items for the Crisis Pregnancy Centre. This local organization helps mothers experiencing an unplanned or crisis pregnancy, and  whether it be housing, counselling, or basic baby items, both new mothers-to-be, and their babies, can experience Christ’s love in a tangible way.

Each classroom had a decorated box to collect new items that a baby could benefit from. (Gently used items could also be donated.) Suggested items were sleepers and outfits (newborn to 12 months), undershirts, bibs, blankets, towels, washcloths, bottles, and food items. As well, moms could receive treats too: toiletries, magazines and treats.

On December 8th, during Chapel, our students were able to hear about this organization, bring their collected items down to our Christmas tree, and pray for this work. When all was done, we filled two vehicles with items given in love.

Grandparents’ Christmas Matinee Concert

Due to the overwhelming response to our announcement that we would be performing at the Chan Centre, we provided an afternoon of music to our Grandparents on Monday, December 4th. Our K-5 students were well-prepared for the evening, and the afternoon gave them an opportunity to have one final practice in front of a very appreciative audience. The students did an absolutely wonderful job of their songs, and the Hallelujah chorus was particularly moving.
