Who: one or both parents of a student in Kindergarten or Grade 1
Date: Thursday, September 29, 2016
Time: 7:00pm to 8:00pm
Where: Grade One – Library
Kindergarten – K1 (room 06)
Why: The teachers of Kindergarten and Grade One want to explain “how” a child learns to read and the variety of ways RCS supports this discovery. As well, parents will learn strategies on helping their child read at home. Kindergarten parents will learn about the home reading program. Grade One parents will learn about the home reading program (different than K) and the Accelerated Reading Program (AR). Your child’s entrance to AR is conditional to a parent’s attendance.
Note: if you have attended the Literacy Night before, you are not required to attend again. (You should have another child in grade 2 and up.) However, you are always welcome for a refresher!
If you have any questions, please talk to your child’s teacher directly.
There is NO childcare. Only infants less than 12months are welcome. NO students at RCS should be attending with parents. Unfortunately, parents with children will not be able to stay for the meeting. If you cannot get childcare, please make an appointment with your classroom teacher after October 3, to understand the programs.
