A Great Year! A Great Summer!
Wow – this year has flown by… Someone said about child-raising, “The days are long but the years are short.” Your child has completed a full school year. They have been actively learning skills and content, but more importantly gaining competency in communication, creative thinking, critical thinking, as well as social and personal skills. All of these skills can be rehearsed and refined during the summer. Please consider some of the following ideas to continue the process of “equipping your child to joyfully serve Christ in all aspects of life”.
People Smart – garage sales, tutoring, Vacation Bible School, Missions Trip, picnics, sleep-overs
Logic Smart – learn chess, board game nights, write a newsletter, do science experiments,
Word Smart – write letters, create a board game, read in a variety of genres, journal,
Body Smart – biking, rollerblading, badminton, croquet, Frisbee, go bowling, swim
Self Smart – www.faith5.org , learn one new thing every day, help with chores,
Music Smart – learn or practice an instrument, musicals, concerts, karaoke, sing
Picture Smart – Family puzzle, photography, scrapbook, draw, colour, paint, Lego, iMovie
Nature Smart – visit GVRD parks, pets, garden, blow bubbles, hike, camp, go to the beach
Have a wonderful summer! See you in September!

Track Meets 2016
On May 5, grade 4 and 5 students were challenged to do their best in five track events held at the Christian Elementary School Sports (CESS) track meet. It turned out to be a glorious day despite not having busses to transport students. We appreciate all of the parents who pitched in to drive their child or a group of children to the event.
On May 26, the students competed with other schools at the Minoru Track Meet. It was a cold and windy day but the rain held off. RCS did very well – especially in the running events.
Come out to Chapel on Friday, June 17 – it’s our awards and recognition chapel!
Sports Day 2016
“Go Purple Team” “YAY Purple”… wait a minute – there was no purple team – just RED and BLUE. Yet, as students waited for the final tally of the scores for each team, this is the cheer that was heard. At the beginning of the day, Mr. Przybylski explained why he was wearing a purple shirt and he showed a video clip of mixing red and blue paint. Students were amazed as it turned into purple. He shared that he was cheering for both teams – to do their best, have fun, and show sportsmanship and caring. The message was caught as students cheered for each other and fully participated. Congratulations RCS! You do Sports Day well.
We appreciated Mr. Przybylski and his team of staff members for organizing the day. It was such a blessing to have Ms. Contant and the Leadership 12 class plan and execute games. Finally, the teachers and parents who led, cheered, and even participated (Thanks a lot, Mr. Grose!) made Sports Day a wonderful memory!

Update on Mrs. Judy Sawatsky
Mrs. Sawatsky, our Admission Coordinator and Administrative Assistant, is presently on leave due to medical treatment for breast cancer. She writes that she is healing after her first surgery. At this time, she would appreciate your prayers for her discomfort and an infection that is delaying the second surgery. She’s had a few setbacks but hopes to be back on track soon. She appreciates the support of the RCS community. Encouraging emails or cards can be sent to the office for forwarding.
