Job Description: 

  • Provides educational, functional, mental health, and emotional support to students
  • Discusses and collaborates with teachers and case managers with regards to instructional programs, classroom management, and expectation setting for students
  • Implements strategies to accommodate individual learner needs/styles, and communicates relevant student information to teachers and supervisor
  • Assists with development of instructional learning resources
  • Monitors and reports to teacher/team on implementation of the program
  • Carries out work within developed structures and plans, being consistent with expectations for students
  • Assists students in a variety of activities, including work experience and life skills, and providing personal care as necessary
  • Other duties as directed by the campus Educational Support Services Coordinator

Qualifications:

  • EA Certification
  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Completion of a recognized Post-Secondary Special Education Assistant program, or a Degree/Diploma in a related field, and/or extensive experience in an equivalent field

Secondary Campus ESS Coordinator

Our Education Support Services Department is accepting applications for a full-time Learning Assistance and Special Education Coordinator (Education Support Services Coordinator), at the Secondary campus, for the 2021 – 2022 school year. Richmond Christian School Education Support Services is committed to provide a quality, Christ-centred education, equipping all students to joyfully serve Christ in all aspects of life. Through purposeful inclusion we encourage students to develop their gifts, become self-advocates, and gain independence as valued members of their communities.

The Education Support Services coordinator, as part of a team with one other coordinator, is responsible for coordinating the development and supporting the implementation of Individualized Education and Learning Support Plans for students with exceptionalities. These duties would also include organizing work experience, planning modified curriculum, such as life skills.  The coordinator will also be responsible for leadership and supervision for Education Assistants at the secondary campus, as well as being part of Richmond Christian School’s K-12 Education Support Services team.

Personal Counselor

Personal Counselor Position for both the Middle and Secondary Campus – 80% (4 days a week)

Richmond Christian School is a PreK-12 school of over 1,000 students, located in the city of Richmond, BC, just south of Vancouver. We have 240 students in our Middle campus, Grades 6-8, and 330 students in our Secondary campus, Grades 9-12. Our mission is to equip all students to joyfully serve Christ in all aspects of life. 

We are seeking a qualified personal counsellor to join our staff team for the 2021-22 school year to support students with mental health and relationships, with an emphasis on wholeness and restoration. The start date is August 30, 2021.

School Counselor Job Responsibilities:

  • Advises and counsels students in short-term social, emotional and mental health challenges.
  • Remains universally accessible and tries to know every student for whom they are responsible.
  • Provides individual student planning and responsive services to support students and their families regarding on-going counselling services.
  • Works with classroom teachers to support students on topics related to Career Life curriculum, Physical Health Education through planned activities in small group or classroom settings to convey educational, social, and emotional wellbeing, and offers workshops/seminars for parents.
  • Consults, facilitates, and maintains communication with parents, teachers, administrators, and pertinent agents on specific student and parent mental health matters including academic modifications and/or accommodations.
  • Working closely with Administration and the ESS Department; participates on a School Based Teams, VTRA teams, and Student of Concern meetings, to identify student(s) who may need targeted or intensive services, and coordinates with behavioral health specialists.
  • Provides counseling to address social and emotional concerns and appropriately refers students to behavioral health specialists.
  • Communicates, coordinates, and collaborates with behavioral health specialists on developing and implementing student supports.
  • Supports and attends appropriate student activities and events.

School Counselor Qualifications/Skills:

  • Desire and ability to work with students at the specified age level with diverse backgrounds and levels of ability toward supporting their mental and emotional health.
  • Ability to organize tasks and manage time to meet many and varied deadlines and communicate effectively with students, parents, school administrators and other staff, including the ability to discuss topics which may be sensitive.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling.
  • RCC or CCC designation
  • Minimum of 1 year of school counseling or teaching experience

Elementary Vice Principal of Learning or Learning Leader

Richmond Christian School is looking for a full-time employment opportunity that would be 80% Administrative and 20% Teaching role starting for the 2021-2022 school year.

Elementary Campus Vice Principal of Learning or Learning Leader will need to be a strong collaborator, able to clearly cast vision, execute a strategic plan, and have strong interpersonal and presenting skills that has a deep understanding of Elementary education.  Below are the responsibilities and roles for the Vice Principal of Learning. These responsibilities will be adjusted should the position be a Learning Coordinator.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  1. Oversee, plan and implement all Ministry requirements in connection to the BC Education Plan for the Elementary Campus.
  2. Plan and implement Professional Development for teachers at the Elementary Campus and school wide.
  3. Works closely with Elementary Campus Admin Team to support all school and campus initiatives. 
  4. Collaborate with other RCS Campuses to ensure transitions, philosophy, and implementation of educational program is intentional and harmonious at all campuses. Areas of collaboration may be in Digital Citizenship, Report Cards, Core Competencies, Scope and Sequence, Assessment, Christian Perspective, etc. 
  5. Oversee and manage the Curriculum Budget that includes purchasing and reviewing needs for resources and instructional aides. 
  6. A member and participant of the Elementary Ed Committee. This includes reporting and updating Ed Committee on educational plans and implementation.
  7. Organize and implement Parent Information Nights to partner and educate parents on important educational changes and shifts that are occurring in BC and RCS.
  8. Oversee, organize and record all responsibilities outside of supervising testing of the FSA and other school wide assessment. Responsibility includes using data to reflect, adjust and report potential educational program changes based on trends and student needs. 
  9. Support and give direction to teachers in the area of teaching and learning.
  10. Research, attend Professional Development and collaborate with Provincial contacts (SCSBC, MOE, FISA) that allows RCS to be current regarding educational trends and implementation. 
  11. Effectively synthesize, lead and teach EC staff through a 5-year strategic plan in regards to current education trends connected to the BC Ed Plan.
